KEEPING BALANCED
This life can make demands on your time, your money, your energy, your talents, your personal space, your emotions, your conscience.....
Where's the balance? How do you prioritize a growing life without going crazy?
Balance involves pressure on opposing sides of a surface placed on a fulcrum. There are three things at work here.
-
The fulcrum -- where is it placed? In the center? Off to one side or another?
-
The pressure on the left side
-
The pressure on the right side
All three of these things have to work together to produce a balance. If any one of them is off, things tilt and you may tend to compensate by applying more pressure on the other side, or moving the fulcrum over. What you should be working toward is a truly balanced life.
Keeping the Balance
One.:':.The Other
Sometimes imbalance comes about because there are two opposing thoughts struggling to control your actions. There's always the struggle between righteousness and unrighteousness. But what about a struggle between two things that seem equally good? For example, Christian freedom vs. righteousness. Yes, we are free - but we have the responsibility to live a righteous life. There is a balance in there. Knowing God is the key to keeping your balance. Be aware of what He wants. Listen to that still, small voice in your spirit that prompts you to do or not do what you're thinking.
Taking A Step
Know Where To Put Your Faith
Psalm 23:3 says, "He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake."
Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path."
Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."
Know God. Follow God. Fear God.
Your footing will be sure if you follow His lead, if you stay in His Word, if you respect His authority and power.
Sounds simple, and sometimes it is. But the good thing is, the more time you spend in the Bible and in prayer, the more you are aware of God's leading. Don't give up when you fall (and we all fall!). Humble yourself, take time to heal. Get back in the Word and keep your eye on the light.
